Notice the top tweet. Two high school football players found guilty. Not two rapists, two football players, elsewhere called very good students. Notice the bottom tweet. Five men confess to gang-raping tourist in India. Why not praise these men? Maybe they’re good at their jobs? Maybe they have an award-winning talent? But who cares?
When it’s in India, CNN basically says, “Oh, how horrible! Look at those Indian men raping that woman! Ugh! Those barbaric Indians!” They act like the rapists are the most vile creatures embodied upon the earth.
But when it’s in America, CNN mourns not for the victim nor the barbarism of the rapists, but the fact that they’re lives will be filled with suffering because Ohio dared to find them guilty. I mean, they play football really well! That’s what matters! They got good grades! Why should they suffer? And, did you not see they apologized? That totally makes up for the trauma and humiliation of sexual assault!
